NIPSS commends leadership style of MoI&S

National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS,  Kuru has commended the strategic leadership style of the Ministry of Information and Strategy and has therefore graciously approved study Nomination forms to the management.

This was made known Wednesday May 18,  during a tour of the Ministry by participants of the Senior Executive Course 44, 2022 of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.

Excited at the warm reception given to his team, with the parade of staff in the Ministry’s branded uniform, coupled with the news that, the Ministry has undertaken several trainings abroad in Dubai and UK as well as other specialized trainings in Chinese and Sign Language, the team Lead, Brig. Gen. C. F.J Udaya MNI (Rtd) extended Nomination forms for training in NIPSS to the management of the Ministry.

“I have heard that, your Ministry has sent staff to Dubai for training and is also about to send others to UK for training. I am pleased to hear that. NIPSS has a course on Strategic Leadership so we will send Nomination forms to your Ministry to undertake Study in different areas in the Institute”, Brig. Gen. Udaya MNI (Rtd) said.

The Team Lead who is also the Secretary/ Director of Administration at NIPSS,  intimated the management of the Ministry that, the Team was in the Ministry as part of the Study Tour of the State with the Theme – “Local Governance in Nigeria, Challenges, Options and Opportunities” and listed members of the Senior Executive Course 44, 2022 to include; high ranking personnel of the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Air force, the Nigerian Police Force, Permanent Secretaries and Directors in both federal and states’ ministries.

He disclosed that, seven states were selected for the study tour in the South/South part of Nigeria with Akwa Ibom as one, emphasizing that, the choice of Akwa Ibom was anchored on the numerous report about the State on Good Governance.

Udaya then solicited for information and other materials that will enhance their research on Local Governance in Nigeria with particular reference to Akwa Ibom State, being the mouthpiece of the State, hinting that the outcome would form the basis for policy direction on local government administration in Nigeria.

Responding, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong represented at the occasion by the Permanent Secretary, Akparawa James Edet, expressed appreciation to the visitors for the encomiums poured on the State and particularly the Ministry of Information and Strategy and thanked the Team Lead for approving Nomination forms for staff training in NIPSS.

He said, Akwa Ibom State enjoys prominence in Local government administration as the first experimental Local Government governance was in Ikot Ekpene LGA of the State as far back as 1951 during the Colonial era.

Ememobong underscored the importance of Local Government administration in the development processes of the country stating that, this is where the masses reside and undertake the production of major agricultural produce required by people at the centre.

The State Information helmsman said, in Akwa Ibom State, there has been a robust working relationship between the State and Local Government with numerous intervention projects undertaken by the State Government for the people in the local communities such as power supply, good roads network and cottage industries.

Highlights of the event were the signing of the Visitor’s register, presentation of publications and other complimentary items of the Ministry to the visiting team from NIPSS as well as a presentation of memento to the Commissioner by the team Lead, Brig. Gen. C.F.J. Udaya MNI (Rtd)
