Tension In Kaduna Communities As Terrorists Kill 28, Burn Over 100 Houses In Midnight Attacks

At least 28 persons have been killed and over 100 houses burnt by terrorists, locally dubbed as bandits, who attacked some communities in the Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State on Sunday.

It was reported late Sunday night, around 11pm that the terrorists struck Malagum 1 and Sokwong communities of Kagoro Chiefdom in Kaura LGA.

The attacks were confirmed by Atuk Stephen, Speaker of the Kaura Local Government Legislative Council, in an interview with reporters on Monday.

Atuk confirmed the killing of not less than 37 people with more than a hundred houses set ablaze by the attackers.

“Attacks in our area have been consistent and multi-dimensional with efforts of the security operatives and government not seen or felt.

“All the houses in Sokwong community were set on fire, many vehicles, motorcycles and other notable properties were destroyed and the entire area left in strain,” he said.

At the time of compiling this report, the police in Kaduna are yet to confirm the attacks, with precise statistics of the casualties still unknown.

Also, the Council Chairman, Hon. Mathias Siman, who confirmed the incident on Monday, said all the houses in Sokwong Community had been completely razed down by the terrorists adding that he was yet to confirm the killings in Malagum one.

Mathias urged residents in the area to remain calm as security agencies were being deployed to carry out investigation in the area.

The spokesman of the Kaduna State Police command, Mohammed Jalige, could not be reached as of the time of filing this report.
