Pastor Umo Eno Visits Dakkada Global Oil Palm

… Assures Full Operation of Plantation with Refinery

As the PDP/Pastor Umo Eno and Akon Eyakenyi campaign train berths in Esit Eket Local Government Area, Pastor Umo Eno has promised to ensure full operation of the Dakkada Global Oil Palm, formerly known as Akwa Palms when elected into office in 2023.

He noted that a refinery will be installed in the plantation to ensure full value chain that will create jobs and make Esit Eket a palm oil producing zone.

Addressing cheery youths who gathered to receive him at the plantation during a short visit, Pastor Eno noted that life has returned to the facility which was abandoned for over 22 years.

It would be recalled that Pastor Umo Eno, while serving as the Executive Director, Directorate of Agric Investments commenced the process for the resuscitation of the moribund Akwa Palms.

The governorship hopeful who was conducted round the newly built administration block, the nursery plantation and the mill by the Acting Director, Mr. Ofonmbuk Nelson, stated that from his assessment, the Governor Udom Emmanuel-led administration has thus far, satisfied the conditions of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for injection of more funds.

The former Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources disclosed that government had released funds for payment of former staff of the facility adding that he was aware that payment will commence soon.

He assured that should the CBN not take up the facility as expected, his administration will ensure full commencement of the plantation when elected into office.

Pastor Eno noted that when fully operational, the plantation will employ over 1000 staff mainly from the host community, and urged them to ensure that they maintain peace in the area to enable them enjoy the full benefits of the facility.
