Akwa Ibom State Ex-Militants has called on elected members of the 10th Senate to elect Senator Godswill Akpabio as the Senate President.

Speaking with newsmen in Uyo on Wednesday, the Coordinator of the group, General Alban Paulinus aka Skiller, in company of other Generals said that the former governor of Akwa Ibom State remains the most qualified Senator to lead the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, given his track records in public offices.

The group thanked the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC and the president-elect, Asiwaju Tinubu, for zoning the office of the Senate President to the South South and for choosing Senator Akpabio for the job.

“Akpabio is a national icon who has proven himself as a unifier and bridge builder. As Governor of Akwa Ibom State, he changed the State from a pedestrian State to a hub of infrastructure development and earned for himself the title of uncommon governor”, Alban said.

“As Minority leader in the 8th Senate, Akpabio replicated his uncommon qualities and performed beyond expectations as a first timer”,

“As Minister of Niger Delta, Akpabio planted a lasting peace in the region and introduced reformations for promt and diligent execution of projects in the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, he left a huge positive mark in the Niger Delta Ministry”, he said.

The group maintained that Akpabio will unify the 10th Senate and bring about robust legislative sessions for the smooth running of the country as the executive will also enjoy a seamless relationship with the legislature.

The Ex-agitators said that since the coming of 4th Republic, this is the first time a South South Senator will become a Senate President, adding that the South East has had their turn on several periods.

“We are hereby calling and appealing on members-elect of the incoming Senate to vote for Senator Godswill Akpabio as Senate President for the overall interest of the nation, he is eminently qualified to head the Red Chambers of the national Assembly”, General Paulinus said.
