Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has admonished parents to engage their children in Godly activities at tender age to order their path in Godliness as a means of instituting acceptable behavioral patterns.

Governor Emmanuel gave the admonition, today, during a Christmas Service at the United Evangelical Church, Awa Iman, Onna Local Government Area.

He thanked the church for supporting his administration through prayers, maintaining that the great feat recorded by his administration could be traced to grace powered by fervent prayers from the church and expressed delight over the reunion with family, friends and childhood days church fellow worshippers to celebrate his last Christmas as Governor of the State.

Recalling his childhood days, Governor Emmanuel affirmed that the efforts of his parents in ensuring his life and those of his siblings were fully occupied with the things of God, formed a template for their behaviours.

This, he said, has paid off greatly, adding that the local Church at Awa Iman has produced a lot of prominent people with worthy character across the globe.

“In our days, if you like, come with a First Class from the University, my father will not let you sleep. You must attend morning prayers, feature in the choir and you must attend Sunday School until the day I got married and that has helped us a lot.

“Our parents led us in the way of God and it’s paying off till today”,he recalled.

Governor Udom Emmanuel brought alive memories of his days as a minstrel, as he joined a special choir of old stars in rendition of a song he wrote for the Church choir in 1982 when he was still a school boy.

Delivering a sermon titled “The Prince of peace”, the Resident Minister, Rev Umoh Umoh, said the gathering of Christians to celebrate Christmas signifies the entry of the Messiah, and Prince of peace as recorded in Isaiah 9:6.

He enjoined believers to celebrate the birth of Jesus with assurance that their future is secured in Christ Jesus.
