Ex- Super Eagles captain and coach Daniel Amokachi says with projects like Vandrezzer FC, there is hope for Nigerian football.

The Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Sports made the remark after his tour of the Vandrezzer FC club house and facilities in Shelter Afrique, Uyo, on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

“I’ve never been here, but I know from what we see on social media, from what we hear from coaches, players, the fans, and the media, because when something is good, it can’t be hidden” said the former Everton FC of England striker in a chat with VFC media.

“They said you don’t light a candle and keep it under the bed, you light a candle to put it to brighten, and that’s what Vandrezzer FC is all about” he added.

While full of praises for the leadership of the club, Amokachi who is a member of the recently constituted Interim Management Committee to reposition the Nigerian league, expressed optimism that Nigerian football would benefit greatly from investments like that of VFC.

“I am a living proof now with what I see, that there is hope for Nigerian football, because football is business.”

“If you have an individual who can invest so much because he still has the belief that Nigerian football would be transformed to be business, the way the Honorouble Minister has pointed it to be, with the mandate of the President of the Federal Republic, then definite we are on the right path” concluded the former Ranchers Bees, Club Brugge, Besiktas and Colorado Rapids forward.

Apart from the VFC club house tour, the Tunisia 94 AFCON winner also attended a VFC Academy training session where he interacted with the delighted youngsters, the coaching crew of Alfred Madaki and Patrick Udo, after which he donated a sum of N300,000 to the squad.

The VFC main squad is currently on break, while the club management perfects structures and strategies ahead of the coming football season.
