Educationist Applauds AKSG On Accreditation Of Programmes In Technical Colleges

The accreditation of programmes in Technical Colleges in Akwa Ibom has elicited excitement among the people.

In an interview with Newsmen, an educationist, Mrs. Grace Umotong noted that the full accreditation of programmes in the Technical Colleges is coming at a time when Vocational Education is placed as priority in the country.

Mrs. Umotong stated that with the accreditation which covers all Subjects and Trade areas for five years, Akwa Ibom children will now have the priviledge of being tutored to acquire skills that will enable to contribute to the growth of the economy, invigorate employment, generate productivity and promote agriculture.

According to her, it will also boost food sufficiency, enhance industralization and institute a technological and knowledge based business environment.

She commended the Akwa Ibom State Government for aproving the recruitment of over three hundred new teachers for the nine Technical Colleges in the State.

The educationist expressed the optimism that the newly recruited teachers would on resumption of work teem up with the Government to promote vocational learning.

The nine Technical Colleges are Government Technical College, Abak, Government Technical College, Ewet, Uyo, Government Technical College, Mkpat Enin, and the Mainland Technical College, Oron.

Others are, Union Technical College, Ikpa, Esit Eket, Government Technical College, Ikot Uko, Ika, Government Technical College, Mbioto, Etinan, Community Technical College, Ikot Ekpene and Government Technical College, Effoi, Eket.
