The Evangelist edition, August 23, 2022.

Despite the ban on the operations of scavengers in the State Capital, The Highlight has observed that such activities are still going on unbated.

It could be recalled that the state government recently placed a ban on the activities of scavengers to check what it called unwholesome activities in the State.

Exchanging views with Newsmen, a resident, Mr. Isaiah Udoma suggested that measures should be taken to enforce the law to safeguard lives and property.

According to him, those engaging in the act now disguise themselves as indigenes for easy mix, packing their materials in sack bags.

Mr. Udoma argued that the operations of the scavengers are risky and security threat to indigenes of the State as they comb for materials in all the nooks and crannies in the neighbourhoods.

He appealed to the State Government and other relevant agencies to look into the activities of scavengers especially in the era of insecurity such as banditry, kidnapping, human traficking and ritual killings.
