A’Ibom State NUJ election: NLC State Chairperson congratulates Amos Etuk, ors

The chairperson of Nigeria Labour Congress, Akwa Ibom State Council, Comrade Sunny James has congratulated Comrade Amos Etuk and his elected members of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the NUJ, on their successful re -election for another term of three years.

Comrade James stated this in his goodwill message, during the Triennial Delegates Conference of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council, which took place earlier today at the NUJ Press Centre, Information Drive, Uyo.

He also commended the chairman and ELECO members for the peaceful and mature manner in which the election was conducted, devoid of rancour, saying that gone were the days when union members were always fighting for positions of leadership and called on other affiliate unions of NLC to emulate them.

The election which was ratified by the national president of NUJ, Chief Chris Isiguzo, represented by the national vice president Zone F of the NUJ, Comrade Okpaka Dokubo, saw Comrades Margaret More emerged as vice chairperson, Dominic Akpan, secretary, Mfon Hanson, assistant secretary, Imaikop Robert, treasurer, Anietie Esu, auditor and Comrade Ini Akpan financial secretary, who came in as a first timer in the State Working Committee, after defeating her only opponent, Comrade Edidiong Udobia in a keenly contested election, while other officers went unopposed.

In his acceptance speech, the newly sworn – in state chairman of NUJ, Comrade Amos Etuk, thanked God for what he has done and equally appreciated members for the confidence reposed in them to lead the union for a second term, not leaving out the returning officer and members of the ELECO for a job well done.

He said that nobody can separate the newly elected EXCO under his watch and maintained that NUJ in Akwa Ibom will continue to remain one strong united family, where love and cooperation abound.
