Hon. Frank Archibong Redeems Promise, Gives Financial support to Akwa Ibom Medical Students

In fulfillment of the promise made during a courtesy call on him some months ago, the Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy affairs, Hon Frank Archibong has given a financial support to the National Association of Akwa Ibom Medical Students Worldwide in commemoration of their 20th anniversary celebration/launching of her maiden edition of the Association’s magazine.

Hon. Frank Archibong gave the support yesterday when the President of the National Association of Akwa Ibom Medical Students Worldwide, Comr. Utomobong Udo led a delegation team to an interactive session in his office at Willington Bassey Way, Uyo.

The Honorable Commissioner, who is also a patron of the association, congratulated the student doctors on the successful celebration of their 20th anniversary which was heralded with a health and academic summit. He charged the intending health workers to be diligent in their studies so as to make the state proud. He also noted that his Boss, Governor Udom Emmanuel has made huge impacts in the health sector, with the renovation of some General hospital and primary health centers in the state.

He further explained that the Medical profession is a noble profession and at the same time a calling that does not necessarily require the most brilliant students in the society but students who are willing to be committed to their studies with a determination to succeed both while in school and in practice.

The Former Chairman of Eket Local Government Area seized the opportunity to thank Governor Udom Emmanuel for the launching of the recent scholarship scheme for students, while stating that Government is aware of the issues of the medical grant. He however urged medical student leaders to embrace dialogue in pursuit of the medical grant and expressed confidence that their demands will be met.

In his response, the President of Akwa Ibom Medical Students, Comr Utomobong Udo appreciated the Commissioner for his show of love to the Medical Students, described him as a perfect example of a father to the entire Akwa Ibom Students, promised to make good use of the financial support given by the Honourable commissioner.

Present to witness the presentation where; Permanent Secretary, Mr Ini Ikie, Chief of Staff to the Honourable Commissioner, Mr Tommy Enodien, Vice President of University of Uyo Akwa Ibom medical Students, Comr Torobong Obot, Staffs of the Ministry among others.
