Governor Emmanuel hosts Easter hymns concert, harps on submission to the will of God

As part of activities marking 2022 Easter celebrations, Akwa Ibom State Government held an Easter Evening of Hymns with the theme, ‘The Power of the Cross’.

The event held Friday evening at the Banquet Hall, Government House Uyo, saw Governor Udom Emmanuel, the Wife of the Governor, Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel and his Deputy Mr. Moses Ekpo, leading several other dignitaries, including national and state assembly members, members of the State Executive Council.

Governor Udom Emmanuel advised that politicians should submit to the will of God as the elections in 2023 approach, in order to have a seamless transition of power, peace and development in the State.

The Governor pointed out that, the essence of the Easter Evening of Hymns which primarily gives the State an opportunity to render praises to God for His presence to go with the State will engender peace to reign as the nation moves closer to 2023.

“It is a good thing to be in the presence of the Lord and I believe all those who have submitted themselves to acknowledge God, like the Bible states, in all thy ways acknowledge Him and he shall direct your path.”

“There are some people that think politics is more than submitting to the will of God, there are some people that think that money is more important than submitting to the will of God, but for us we speak like Joshua in the Bible, follow, submit to God alone.”

” We are about entering the next phase in Akwa Ibom State, in Nigeria and we as a State honour God today with praise is going out first victory is ours.”

The Chief Executive of the State, revealed that he has seen leadership and commitment among State Executive Council Choir, College of Permanent Secretaries Choir, and particularly the National Assembly members who sang the hymn ‘ Our Lord is risen from the dead’ for their unity, and commended the Judiciary with the rendition ‘ Fairest of all’ for a large turnout of judges at the event.

” I so much appreciate the unity I have seen in the National Assembly, even those I have not seen for a while seeing them sing today is a lot of inspiration and I have never had this number of judges sing in an event like this”, the Governor remarked.

In his homily, Rev. Message Akwaowo, the resident pastor of United Evangelical Church 165 Aka Road, Uyo who spoke on ‘The Power of the Cross’ and culled his text from 1Cor: 17 – 25, said that the Cross signifies final answer and solution to all spiritual and physical challenges, adding that Jesus died on the cross to defeat shame, and the death of Christ brings a new life to all believers.
