Reno Omokri Laments Disunity In PDP, Reveals What Wike Has Done That Is Worrisome

Nigerian socio-political commentator and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Reno Omokri has lamented the disunity in his party caused by Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State and his loyalists.
Reno, who submitted that Wike has sabotaged PDP, noted that the Rivers State governor ought to unite with others and face the general elections instead of fighting party members.
In his words: “I wish Governors Wike and his loyalists had opposed Waziri Atiku on the basis of competency. That may have flown. But to base their opposition solely on the fact that he is a Northerner is retrogressive. Nigeria must play politics of ideas, not politics of ethnicity.
“Members of a party can fight themselves all the way to a primary. But once a candidate emerges, they ought to unite and face the General Election. Sabotaging your party because you did not win a primary is risky. It makes you too risky to ever be trusted again.”
Meanwhile, myriad of Nigerians sided with the three governors in the South: Nyesom Wike, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and Samuel Ortom of Benue State, who are seemingly withdrawing their support for the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar
Most worrisome for Atiku is the position of the former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, who disclosed that he has not backtracked from the position of the aforementioned governors and other aggrieved leaders of the party on the agitation for regional equity within the PDP.
Mimiko had stressed that he is committed to making sure that a member of the party of southern extraction must be the National Chairman before the 2023 polls and that the party must allow its internal structure to reflect the diversity of Nigeria before embarking on its 2023 mantra of unifying the country.
On the other hand, Governor Ortom called on Atiku to apologise over his outburst against him and the people of his state, noting that Fulani alone cannot make him the president if that’s what he thinks.
The former vice president drew the ire of the governor during the interactive forum organised by the Arewa Consultative Forum in Kaduna recently when he (Atiku) accused Ortom of profiling Fulani and that the governor told him that his people used to rustle cows.
Reacting, Ortom faulted Atiku, describing his statement that he profiled Fulani herdsmen as false. He also denied making the claim that his people stole cows from his farm.
In Ortom’s words, “I condemn the statement against me by Atiku. When it got to me, I chatted with him through a WhatsApp message; he apologised but declined to make a public apology.
“But I am against the Fulani terrorists coming from Niger, Chad, Senegal, and Mali. He must do a retraction. If he does not, on the day of the election, we will vote according to the election.
“We cannot vote for a president who will continue the carnage against our people. He wants to use me as a scapegoat. Atiku is unfair to the people. Do you think Fulani will make you president? You lie. You have committed sacrilege against the Benue people.”
As reaction trail, Nigerians on social media backed the aforementioned aggrieved PDP chieftains as they predict a bad 2023 election for Atiku.

@Nkem: “Former Ondo state Gov Mimiko has rejected Atiku’s appointment as the leader of Ondo PDP campaign council and has aligned with Wike. Olisa Metuh today also resigned.
