Gov Umo Eno Visits Eket Sen. Dist, Sues for Continuous Peace … You Have Brought Sanity to Our Polity – Chief Essien to Gov.

In fulfilment of his promise to return in appreciation when elected, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has paid a thank you visit to the people of Eket Senatorial District.

In his message of appreciation at the event held at the country home of the political leader of the District, Chief Ndueso Essien, he said his victory in the last gubernatorial election would not have been possible without the support of the people of Eket Senatorial District.

He noted that the thank – you visit was not enough in itself to express the magnitude of his appreciation for their support, adding that the determination and commitment to diligently serve the State is also an expression of gratitude to the Senatorial District and the State in general.

The Governor who has lived and done business in Eket for over 27 years, said Eket has been a home for him and will be given its pride of place in government.

In his words, “we came here to thank the senatorial district. I appreciate you for the votes you gave us. It wasn’t a right, but you choose to entrust us with your votes. We are here to appreciate you and show our appreciation. Our determination to work and touch lives, is also a way of appreciating you for the votes. We won’t take your votes for granted, but put in all our efforts to serve Akwa Ibom State.”

He noted that Akwa Ibom has become a destination of choice for conferences, seminars, retreats, tourists and investors, and appealed that the peace and security which has become synonymous with the State must be maintained.

The visibly elated Governor who fluently code switched and mixed English language with Eket dialect, promised to prioritise the peace of the State in all government policies, programmes and others.

“I will always do things that will always bring peace. Let’s calm our nerves and apply wisdom. Our words can elicit peace and could also instigate war,” he said.

He noted that the one project per local government will be flagged off soonest and appealed for cooperation from the political leaders stressing that it was only the first, but certainly not the last in the life of the current administration.

The Governor disclosed that work will soon commence at the Orukim to Uyenge road for easy access to the Ibom Deep Sea Port adding that investors were interested in visiting the site only by road.

He also disclosed that work will soon commence on the road from Ikot Ubo leading through Nsit Atai to the Victor Attah International Airport to ease the stress of the people from the senatorial district

Speaking on the delayed construction of Nsit Atai – Oron road, he said the project was very dear to his heart, and solution will be proffered soonest.

The Governor said the current administration under his watch is striving to ensure that a greater number of people benefit from government, adding that Personal Assistants on youths will be appointed from each of the federal constituencies, and also anounced the appointment of Grace Imoh, PDP Woman Leader, Urban 2 and an active supporter as Special Assistant under the office of the First Lady.

It would be recalled that the Governor had earlier paid similar visit to Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District and will wrap up that phase with a visit to Uyo Senatorial District today.

Earlier in his remarks, the leader of the Senatorial District, Chief Ndueso Essien appreciated the Governor for the thank you visit.

He noted that Governor Eno has brought in sanity in politics adding that he was confident that as a seasoned entrepreneur, he will be different in his approach to governance.

The former minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, assured that the people of the senatorial district will continue to support the Governor to deliver on his ARISE Agenda.

In their seperate remarks, Eket Local government chairman, Hon Akan Tommy, Chief Obot Etukafia, Bassey Dan Abia, Ikpoto Okon Osung, Dr. Emmanuel Ekwuwem, Senator Ekong Sampson, Chief Assam Assam (SAN) and others appreciated the Governor for the visit and promised to continue their support for him throughout his tenure.

Also speaking, the Deputy Governor, Senator (Dr) Akon Eyakenyi who is also from Eket Senatorial District appreciated the Governor saying that within four months, he has done and is still doing what he had promised to do.

The Deputy Governor also appreciated the people of Eket Senatorial District for the support at the polls as well as supporting the government, and assured all present that every nook and cranny of the State will benefit from one project or the other under the Pastor Umo Eno-led administration.

High point of the event was a vote of confidence passed on the Governor for his transformational strides especially in rural development and people – centric approach to governance.
