The series of judgements delivered by the Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, affirming the qualification of Pastor Umo Eno for the election and as the duly elected governor of Akwa Ibom State on the platform the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the March 18, 2023 general election has been lauded as upholding the wish of the people of the State as well as giving credence to the doctrine of democracy.
This was the assertion of the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Ekerete Udoh, during a bi-weekly Government House Press briefing held, Friday, at the Press Centre, Government House, Uyo.
Mr Udoh who gave a run down of events and activities of the Governor Umo Eno led- administration in the last two weeks, reasoned that the contenders should heed the governor’s call on the contenders to join hands with him and build the State in the interest of all, expressing optimism that the victory will grant the governor ample time and focus towards intensifying the implementation of the ARISE Agenda which has endeared the people to his government.
Enumerating the achievements of the administration within the period under review, the CPS reaffirmed government position to ensuring equitable distribution of palliatives to the needy in the State on village basis, noting that the distribution has been done in over twenty LGAs as at the last count.
Mr Udoh pointed out that activities culminating in the 36th Anniversary of the State creation brought to bear the sentiments of government and people towards the growth and unity of the State as exhibited in the interdenominational Thanksgiving Service where past and present leaders as well as prominent indigenes of the State of all political and ethnic divides were in attendance.
He observed that the Made in Akwa Ibom Trade Fair inaugurated by Governor Umo Eno on September 23rd as highpoint of the anniversary showcased talents, creativity and the entrepreneurial prowess of Akwa Ibom people thereby creating a platform for the Governor to empower entrepreneurs in line with his campaign promises and goals of the ARISE Agenda, emphasising that machinery has been put in place to monitor and ensure intended results and sustainability.
The Governor’s Spokesperson added that the 2023 Ibom Ignite Conference, inaugurated within the period emitted hyper inspiration and adequate internalization of the ARISE Agenda blueprint of entrepreneurship among Akwa Ibom youths thereby creating a new vista of self confidence in pursuit of great dreams.
The CPS announced plans of the Governor to lead the State Executive Council and other relevant stakeholders to a five-day retreat outside the State where details of key deliverables of the ARISE Agenda blueprint will be adequately articulated and used the occasion to appeal to the Government House Correspondents to be alive to their primary responsibility of interpreting and disseminating government policies to the governed .
