For the first time since his assumption of office, Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State opted to fly the domestic route with a commercial airline. The governor, Tuesday, August 15, 2023, flew with Ibom Air to Abuja, in preference to the State owned Gulf Stream Executive jet. It was a move that caught most airport officials and passengers by surprise, as the governor joined the queue to board the flight.

By so doing, Ibom Air itself marked a significant milestone today as their mid-day flight, QI0202 from Uyo to Abuja departed on schedule from the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo with the State Governor.

The Governor arrived at the airport well before the departure time, underscoring his unwavering dedication and determination to lead by example. In his haste to catch the flight in time, he rushed out of the office, leaving behind the better part of his convoy. The rest of the convoy had to scramble in batches to catch up with the governor in the airport.

At the airport, the governor meticulously ensured that he followed the boarding process just like any other passenger, ensuring that his presence did not disrupt the carefully schedule of the airline. Said Ibom Air in a press Statement signed by Aniekan Essienette,
General Manager, Marketing, and Communication: “The governor’s actions echo his dedication to ensuring smooth operations of the airline for our passengers”.

Reliving his experience later on his official Twitter handle the governor the flight was awesome:
“Akwa Ibom State’s pride, Ibom Air, has firmly established itself as a premier airline in the region, boasting top-notch services and unmatched reliability. With its fleet of modern aircraft and a commitment to passenger satisfaction, Ibom Air has set the bar high for excellence in the airline industry.

“Today, I had the pleasure of using Ibom Air for my official engagement outside Akwa Ibom State, and I must say that the experience exceeded my expectations as usual. The seamless check-in process, comfortable seating, and friendly cabin crew created an environment that made my journey very enjoyable. Awesome experience indeed”.

In the company of the governor on the trip was Prince Enobong Uwa, the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, and Emem Bob, the commissioner for Economic Development.
