Meet Anthony Nnamdi, a Dakkada player who could leave if they get relegated from NPFL

No team are “too good to go down”, but at the end of every season there are a collection of players at the relegated clubs who may be worth plucking from the sinking ships and keeping in the top flight.

Relegation is never good, but it isn’t always an indictment of quality.

Every team which is on the brim of suffering a drop to the lower division has talent(s) on it. But we’ll be looking at one of the relegation-threatened sides in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and highlight some players that are most likely to be cherry-picked by savvy sides.

▪️ Nnamdi is known to be reactive, rather than proactive when defending. His high scores for defending intensity and impact show a young player who makes tackles rather than interceptions.

▪️ He is fantastic as a ball-carrying, rather than a ball-playing, midfielder.

▪️ When Dakkada are in possession and Nnamdi picks the ball up in the middle third, he tends to take it into the final third before doing something very decent with it.

▪️ What he adds to a midfield is thrust, similar to Liverpool’s Thiago Alcantara and Madrid’s Toni Kross.

▪️ Nnamdi’s performances so far in Dakkada team as the engine room should have a number of suitors knocking on his door at the end of this season.

▪️ Place him next to another midfielder who likes a tackle and you get the beginnings of a top-half midfield pairing. But put him next to a truly progressive passer from deep and you have the makings of a midfield worthy of top class competition.

▪️ Nnamdi has featured six times for Dakkada FC (one as a substitute) and has recorded one assist this season.
