Scoring goals are great but keeping clean sheets more important – Plateau United star Emmanuel Ifeanyi
Plateau United center-back Emmanuel Ifeanyi has enjoyed a stunning season for his new club by scoring four goals in the first couple of games in the first round, but his team’s clean sheet remains the priority for him.
Ifeanyi has been rock-solid in Plateau United’s defence, which is yet to concede a goal in their last two NPFL games, and the defender is delighted to also be hitting the back of the net at the other end.
The ace defender was at his supreme defensive best, making tackles and breaking down Nasarawa United offensive plays for fun during their 1-0 win on Sunday.
When quizzed by Lodgexpress.com if he was taking goalscoring advice from his attacking teammates, Ifeanyi said: “I’m definitely learning from them, but it’s not what I take most pride in as a defender.
Reacting to their consecutive clean sheets in their last two games, Ifeanyi added;
“I’m really delighted with the two clean sheets, but if I can contribute I’m always happy to do it, especially in front of the fans, but the clean sheet means a lot to me and I will sleep well at night.”
