… As Obong Attah, Edet Amana lead Architects, Engineers to drum support for PDP Guber Candidate
In his resolve to further on the development trajectory of Akwa Ibom State, gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Pastor Umo Eno has assured that his administration would partner with different professionals to build the new Akwa Ibom if elected in the forthcoming elections.
Speaking during a consultation visit to the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) as well as the Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA), he noted that his economic development blueprint would focus on connecting the dots of different development projects in the state for the benefit of all.
Pastor Eno who is evidently passionate about rural development, said the next administration would focus more on rural development through construction of cottage hospitals, model schools, markets, low-cost estates, water projects, electricity facilities and many others, adding that the engineers and architects have a great role to play to make it successful.
He noted with sadness that the state and even the country do not have a good recreation centre such as Disneyland and assured that his administration would build one and also develop different tourism sites.
Pastor Eno who is a fellow of the Nigerian Hotel and Catering Institute (FNHCI) and the immediate past Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, said his administration intends to attract tourists and make Akwa Ibom a preferred destination in Nigeria and Africa as a whole.
He expressed delight that the state already has a master plan and a properly laid foundation, stressing that when elected, he would partner with professionals as appropriate to interpret and implement projects that would benefit Akwa Ibom people.
Pastor Eno commended Architect Obong Victor Attah, the former Governor of the state for the master plan and foundation laid for the state, as well as other leading lights in other professional bodies for their contributions to the Akwa Ibom project.
He urged them to key into the ARISE Agenda with ideas and votes in the forthcoming elections to enable full actualisation of the agenda.
In his words, “By the grace of God and with your support, if you all go to the villages to talk to your people to vote for us, we will run an all inclusive government, and you will be fully involved.”
In his remarks, Engr. Edet James Amana, at the NSE consultation, commended Pastor Umo Eno for the recognition accorded NSE, stressing that they were prepared and glad to support the PDP Guber candidate as well as partner with him for the development of the State.
In their separate remarks, Engineers Ibok Essien, Oliver Ebong and the Uyo branch Chairman – Uwem Akpan, MNSE noted that NSE was privileged to be invited by the PDP governorship candidate to discuss on possible ways of partnership to further on the development of Akwa Ibom.
They observed that the ARISE Agenda is a well articulated document with over 75 percent engineering-driven content, adding that they were prepared to partner with Pastor Eno to achieve his lofty goals.
Similarly, at the NIA consultation Architect Obong Victor Attah noted that it was a thing of joy to have Pastor Umo Eno as a candidate for the governorship elections, stressing that Umo Eno is humble enough to know that he doesn’t know everything and always willing to learn where necessary.
In their separate remarks, Arch. Iniobong Ukpong, and the branch Chairman – Enobong Ekwere, MNIA and others appealed to Pastor Eno to be inclusive in his administration by engaging indigenous professional architects.
They noted that his blueprint was all-encompassing and reassured that they were prepared to support and partner his administration for socio-economic and political gains.
According to them, “Your blueprint shows you have a vision. And whoever partners with architects will always see the world. We are prepared to partner with you to further development in Akwa Ibom State.”
