Remo Stars keeper Bankole: Good cleansheet on opening day

Remo Stars goalkeeper Kayode Bankole insists there were lots of positives to be drawn from their 2-0 victory against El-Kanemi Warriors on Sunday.

Bankole and the back four kept a clean sheet as Daniel Ogunmodede’s side picked up all three points on the opening day of the new Nigeria Premier Football League season.

“It was a typical first game of the new campaign and both teams especially El-Kanemi, played with the handbrake on but not enough to stop us,” Bankole told Lodgexpress.com. “We did well to get a clean sheet and gave ourselves a comfortable result going into the next game.

“But in general I am happy with our defensive performance and I hope we can keep it going. We want to build on this good start. We did that last year and we know how important it is to get ourselves up there in the table and then stay there.

“We want to get twelve points from the next four games. We know how tough that could be but we believe we can do it. We go to Gombe next and they will be a tough test but we will make sure we do our best and hopefully win the game.”
