Nigeria youth sensation Daniel Daga was thrilled to score on Dakkada debut in the Nigeria Premier Football League on Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Bayelsa United.

He became one of the club’s youngest debutant to score a goal after arriving from division two side, FC One Rocket during the transfer window.

The young energetic midfielder played a crucial part in Dakkada’s narrow draw away from home, and while operating in the heart of one of Umar Danladi’s set-up, Daga stunned the hosts supporters, showing class and leadership in the centre of the pitch.

In a tie that seemed bereft of skill and urgency, Daniel Daga was the player who kept things ticking, playing admirably against a strong Bayelsa midfield. His quality and calmness on the ball was key to Dakkada staying in the game, scoring a 98th minute equalizer and eventually holding on for the 1 point.

“I am very delighted to have scored today on my first game in the Nigeria topflight division, but also disappointed that we only got a draw,” he told Lodgexpress official website after the 1-1 result.

“I was really focused on helping the team get the equalizer. My approach is generally attacking, to try and invent something, so that’s what I did out there.

“The boss instructed me to play it simple, focus on the final ball. Then I heed to the instructions and I scored. My role has always been mezzala, but I can also play as a traditional Number 8.

“Danladi is a top coach, he is really brilliant in executing his tactics and I am trying to learn everything I can from him.
