Palace Renovation: AKSG Presents Cheques To Four Paramount Rulers

In its continued efforts to uplift the status of Traditional institution, Akwa Ibom State Government has presented cheques in Millions of Naira to four (4) Paramount Rulers in the State for renovation and furnishing of their respective palaces.

The benefiting Paramount Rulers are; Paramount Rulers of Ika, HRM Akuku Joseph Okosi Ekot(111), Uruefong-Oruko, HRM Offong Efiong M. Unanaowo JP, Ikono, HRM Edidem Etim Nnana Itang and Ini, HRM Edidem Udoette Ndon.

Presenting the cheques on behalf of the State Government in Uyo on Tuesday, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Frank Archibong stated that the gesture was a deliberate effort of the present administration to accord the Royal fathers their pride of place given their cardinal roles in the day to day life of the people.

The Commissioner called on the monarchs to make judicious use of the funds for the purpose meant for and to continue to foster peaceful coexistence among the people, assuring that Governor Emmanuel will not relent in his bid to create enabling environment for Traditional rulers to thrive.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the Paramount Ruler of Ika, HRM Akuku Joseph Okosi Ekot, expressed gratitude to Governor Udom Emmanuel for extending his transformation agenda to Traditional institution in the State noting that the provision of funds to give their respective palaces a facelift and more would go a long way to boost their morale.

The Royal Father prayed God to bless the Governor while pledging continued support to his completion agenda.

The benefitting Paramount Rulers are the last set inaugurated into the Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council.

Also present at the occasion were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs,Elder Ini Ikie and the Secretary,State Traditional Rulers Council, Mr Emmanuel Umontuen.
