We Cannot Support An Arrogant Person To The Senate –OKON Eket Youths Reply Ephraim Inyang

The youths of Okon Geopolitical Zone in Eket Local Government have debunked in strong terms, the report in the media that they have endorsed YPP candidate for Eket Senatorial District, Mr Ephraim Inyang, maintaining that they have no intention of throwing their weight behind an arrogant individual.
Speaking in an enlarged meeting of the youths in the Clan, the Okon Youth President, Comrade Effiong Johnson emphatically stressed that the apex youth group in the clan never gave their backing to the former Chief of Staff to the Governor.
Confirming his attendance at a meeting at the Clan Head’s Palace recently where Ephraim Inyang came on a consultative visit to the Clan Council, Comrade Johnson clarified that he only appeared after being summoned by the Clan Head as a representative of the youths adding that he never uttered a word of support for the former Works Commissioner.
“I am standing here to clear the air on a recent report that has been in circulation that the Okon Youth Council endorsed the Senatorial Candidate of YPP.
“Yes I was in attendance at the consultation because I was summoned by the Clan Head to attend as a representative of the youths in the clan and we did not at any time endorse Akparawa Ephraim Inyangeyen for the Red Chamber”, he said.
Speaking further, Comrade Effiong Johnson affirmed that the youths of Okon have always been supporting the PDP over the years and this election season won’t be an exception hence their choice for the Senate job remains Barrister Ekong Sampson.
In another message of support for Barrister Ekong Sampson, the Supervisor for Youth and Sports and former Youth President of Okon Clan, Comrade Daniel Essien disclosed that Okon Clan needs a character like that of Ekong Sampson who has the experience in terms of lawmaking having been at the State House of Assembly and also has an enviable ethos which make him outstanding and most importantly, a product of the zoning system in the senatorial district.
Reacting to the purported endorsement of Ephraim Inyang by Okon Youths, Comrade Daniel Essien described the report as not only misleading but an act of desperation by the sacked Chief of Staff whom he also described as a symbol of ingratitude and a desperate fellow whom as Commissioner for Works ensured the slow pace of road and infrastructural projects in the clan especially the Okon Civic Center as well as poor compensation packages to owners of properties in the clan, and wondered how such a ‘notorious’ character could get their support.
“Let me also clarify that anyone that said we have endorsed the YPP Candidate is not only misleading the public but clearly on a mission of desperation.
“Okon youths have pitched their tents with a man of integrity and experience in the business of lawmaking in the person of Barr. Ekong Sampson. We cannot take the risk of supporting someone who epitomizes ingratitude and arrogance.
“We cannot endorse someone who supervised the wanton underdevelopment of our Clan where property owners were underpaid and several other misdeeds carried out under his watch,” he said.
In attendance at the meeting were the Vice Youth President of Okon Youth Council, Comrade Emmanuel Peter, Eket Youth Caucus Vice Chairman Comrade Akaniyene Williie, Mr. Vincent Henry the Immediate past Youth President Okon Youth Council, the Ikot Ataku Village Youth President, Mr Cyril Ubokudom and other youth stakeholders in the area and they all unanimously agreed to support and ensure the victory of all PDP Candidates in Eket come 2023.
