I’ve Not Resigned And Won’t Resign, Gov Emmanuel Replies Rumour Mill

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has declared as fake news, the rumour making the rounds that he has resigned or is contemplating resignation as Chairman of Atiku Abubakar’s Presidential Campaign Council.

Accordingly, the Governor has enjoined members of the public to discountenance such news, as there is no iota of truth in the fabricated story.

Speaking, Tuesday during the flag-off of Governorship campaigns for the gubernatorial ambition of the PDP Gubernatorial candidate in the State, Pastor Umo Eno and his running mate, Senator Akon Eyakenyi at the Nest of champions, Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, the Governor who described himself as a loyal party man, stated that he won’t succumb to subtle blackmail or pressure for any quarters for him to dump the presidential flagbearer of the party, Atiku Abubakar.

“Before I go into any protocol, let me address Nigerians first. I woke up this morning to one fake news: they say I have resigned from being the chairman of the presidential campaign council. I am saying it is not true.

“We have won them before and we are going to win them again. We are in under the presidential council to win. So, we have to win. Don’t listen to all those rumours.

“I am a very loyal party man. Very committed party man. I am here as the chairman of the presidential campaign of Atiku, of PDP. I am going anywhere; we are going to win together,” he said.

Also, the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization has come to the defense of Governor Udom Emmanuel.

In a statement issued, Tuesday in Abuja onbehalf of the campaign Council by the Spokesperson of the campaign Council, Kola Ologbondiyan, the Atiku/Okowa Campaign Council cautioned those behind the rumour to desist from such, declaring that they were fighting a lost battle, as “Nigerians across board are already rallying with the PDP and cannot be swayed by fake news”.

Continuing, the Atiku/Okowa Campaign Council remarked; “Our Campaign assures Nigerians as well as all pro-democracy and development partners that such idea is not in the contemplation of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Emmanuel”

“The appointment of Governor Udom Emmanuel as Chairman of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council was predicated on his belief and commitment to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the ideals of our founding fathers as well as his unwavering confidence in our Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, as the leader that has the required capacity to lead the charge to rescue and rebuild our nation”

“Governor Emmanuel is effectively and committedly leading a successful campaign that will take our Party to victory and will not be distracted by the wishful thinking of the enemies of Nigeria”.

“The Atiku/Okowa Campaign therefore urges Nigerians to ignore such shenanigans and fake news coming from the enemies of our nation who are desirous of causing confusion in the polity with a view to derailing the electoral process”.
