Methodist Church Nigeria Celebrate 180th Anniversary, Honours 180 Members

Methodist Church Nigeria has honoured 180 members as it recently marked its 180th anniversary in Nigeria.
The church, which arrived Nigeria on September 24, 1842, conferred Knight of John Wesley, on 180 members in recognition of their contributions to the church and services to humanity.
Speaking at the event held at the church’ Cathedral in Badagry, Freedom Memorial Cathedral, the Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Most Rev. Samuel Emeka Uche Kalu, congratulated the awardees for their good deeds, which resulted in their being accorded the highest honour attainable for lay members and charged them not to relent, but to put more efforts in serving God and humanity.
Conference Lay President, Sir Ude Ifeanyi Okechukwu, described the awardees as “men and women of proven integrity who understood what it meant to serve God.”
Secretary of the conference / Archbishop elect, Diocese of Abuja, Rt Rev Michael Olusola Akinwale noted that the church brought civilisation to Nigeria through education, gospel and health.
Presiding Bishop of Methodist of Ghana, Most Rev Paul Kwabena Boato, in his sermon, educated the congregation on the need to work for God with all resources.
The awardees, including Dr. Oluseye David Awojobi, Sir Aramide Olutola Noibi and Pa Olusegun Ayoola, all agreed that “the award was in recognition of their good deeds, such as helping the needy. and other deeds that are worthy of emulation.
They pledged to put more efforts in serving God and humanity.
