Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency Member Donates Classroom Block And Educational Facilities To Akwa Ibom State University

A member representing Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency Honourable Unyime Idem has inaugurated a 300 -seater capacity classroom block and well equipped 50-seater e-learning centre he built for Akwa Ibom State University, Obio Akpa Campus, Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

Inaugurating the projects on Monday August 29, 2022, the federal legislator said his gesture stems from the importance he attached to education as the bedrock of the society by preparing people to become better citizens,arming them to be gainfully employed and giving people the knowledge to differentiate between good and bad.

“Being here for the exercise stems from the importance I attach to education. Education is not just a preparation for life, it is life itself and helps people become better citizens, be gainfully employed as well as help people to be able to differentiate between what is good and what is bad”.

Hon Idem also said his decision to build the classroom block and internet centre for the State University was his little way of contributing to the completion agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel on improved and the promotion of knowledge.

He stressed that the projects will support the raising of the next generation of ICT compliant leaders, scientists, teachers and those who would help advance the course of humanity.

Idem, who underlined the enormous importance of education in nation building,enjoin government to do more to improve the quality of education by providing critical infrastructures, teaching and non-teaching resources as well as the appropriate learning environment for students to optimally reap the benefits of education as a national resources.

For the federal legislator, it was his need to support government in furtherance of the importance of education that prompted him to donate the projects to the University. He therefore urge the beneficiaries not only to make judicious use of the facilities but also take advantage of the numerous benefits they have to offer and assured the management of the State University of his continuous support in achieving its education mandate.

The federal legislator used the opportunity to highlight the educational facilities he has donated to schools in the federal constituency so far which include five e-Learning Centres in Community High School, Usung Atiat, Afaha High School, Ikot Udombang and Community Secondary, Urua Ekpaenang all in Ukanafun Local Government as well as Community Secondary School Mbiakot and Community Secondary School Ikot Esenam both in Oruk Anam.

Others are seven classroom blocks in seven communities in the federal constituency which are, Twin six classroom blocks with VIP toilet in Community High school, Usung Atiat in Ukanafun, six classroom block with VIP toilet at Model Secondary, Obio Akpa(Oruk Anam), six classroom block with VIP toilet in Government Primary School, Ikot Otiowuo (Ukanafun), two classroom block in Urban High School, Ikot Akpan Essien (Oruk Anam), six classroom block with VIP toilet in Migrant Farmers Primary School, Ikot Akpan Nsek (Oruk Anam) and six classroom block with VIP toilet in Methodist Primary School, Ikot Akpan Udo (Oruk Anam).

Apart from above-mentioned classroom blocks he has donated to the respective secondary and primary schools in the Ukanafun/Oruk Anam Federal Constituency, he equally stated that the e-learning centres were accompanied with 250 computer sets, internet facilities, generating sets and alternative energy sources.
