Akwa Ibom-born businessman, prolific newspaper publisher and Special Assistant on Media to Governor Udom Emmanuel, Mr. Uko Umoh, has assured supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state that Pastor Umo Eno, the party’s flag-bearer, is going to emerge as Governor Udom Emmanuel’s successor in the 2023 general election, just as he stated reasons for supporting the ambition of the former CEO of Royalty Group to become Akwa Ibom’s next governor.

“I am making a bold statement today that my unalloyed support for Pastor Umo Eno’s governorship ambition is 100 percent, and I can assure you that he is going to emerge as Governor Udom Emmanuel’s successor in 2023 through the merit and strength of the ballot”, Mr Umoh, fondly called, ‘Uko Biafra’, said while speaking to some select journalists shortly after the wedding ceremony between former Miss Imaobong Nkan, daughter of Akwa Ibom’s finance commissioner, Mr. Linus Nkan, and Enwongo Udoh, on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Ibom Icon Hotels and Golf Resort, Uyo

According to him, the PDP candidate had got what it takes to provide the quality and desirable leadership Akwa Ibom needs at a time like this. “Pastor Umo Eno has the blueprint, business acumen and prerequisite experience to transform Akwa Ibom State as governor, the way he has did as Governor/Chief Executive Officer of Royalty Group.

“I can assure anyone who cares to listen that he will replicate similar feats when he eventually becomes governor of Akwa Ibom State. I have not pretended about my open support for him”, he stated.

Umoh added that Pastor Eno is not a greenhorn in politics, and that he is a committed and patriotic party man; a consummate professional, respected gentleman, trailblazer, committed philanthropist and a true family man who can proactively navigate Akwa Ibom State socio-economically from where Governor Emmanuel will stop in 2023.

When asked about Pastor Eno’s certificate issue currently making news in the state, Uko said no amount of blackmail would deter the former Commissioner from Lands and Water Resources from his genuine quest to run for the governorship seat of Akwa Ibom State in 2023 general elections.

He said: “Forget about what people are saying, no amount of intimidation or blackmail can deter Umo Eno from emerging as next governor of Akwa Ibom State. It’s just like me, through my newspaper, The Nigerian Pulse, I’ve mentored and raise several journalists in this state. 15 of them are prominent publishers today. But when I was appointed Special Assistant to the Governor on Local Media, one of them was the first to blackmail me.

“Let me say this: Governor Udom Emmanuel is going to deliver. He has delivered in all ramifications. There’s nobody who is a governor and who would not be interested in his successor.

“Umo Eno is a humble person. Come May 29, 2023, he will be the governor of this state, and he will continue from where Governor Udom will stop. We’re just waiting for the swearing in ceremony, take it or leave it”.

Uko further commended Governor Emmanuel for his exceptional astute leadership and good governance that, he said, have brought unprecedented economic growth and sustainable infrastructural development to the state.

“Governor Udom Emmanuel has delivered creditably well in line with his campaign promises to the people of Akwa Ibom State, as his achievements are highly remarkable, and he has given the citizens 100 percent of what they deserve.

“Are you talking about pensions, gratuities, salaries, construction of roads? Just name them! I don’t want to take about education, health, security, economy, infrastructure, agriculture/agribusiness, youth, and sports development. I don’t want to talk about Ibom deep seaport, I don’t even want to talk about Ibom Air. He as succeeded in all sectors.
