Ibiono Ibom people will align with Governor Udom Emmanuel’s succesion agenda – Hon. Charles Bassey


Former Deputy Leader of Ibiono Ibom Local Government Council Legislature and former Chairman Akwa Ibom State councilors Forum , Hon. Charles Bassey has given assurance that the good people of Ibiono Ibom will support the succession agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel and vote massively for other Peoples Democratic Party candidates in the 2023 general elections.

Hon. Bassey made this known during the meeting of Uyo Senatorial District Progressives Initiative, USPI, Ibiono Ibom Chapter to reappraise recent political developments in the State. He explained that like every Ibiono Ibom indigene, he also vigorously campaigned and lobbied to have the Governorship candidate of the PDP emerge from the area, adding however that God had a different way.

Hon. Bassey said as a loyal party man and citizen who has seen how successive PDP administrations have progressively developed the State with good governance, he was left with no choice but to align with the succession agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel, which he maintained, is the icing on the cake of his completion agenda.

Bassey who is the Deputy National Chairman of USPI and Coordinator of the Ibiono Ibom chapter thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for the Skills Acquisition Center at Ikot Ada Idem and the new General Hospital which groundbreaking was recently performed in Oko Ita, observing that Ibiono Ibom has benefited immensely from Governor Udom Emmanuel with several sons and daughters given political appointments.

He accordingly pledged that USPI Ibiono Ibom chapter will mobilize the people of the area to vote for all PDP candidates including, Rt Hon. Godwin Ekpo for Ibiono Ibom State Constituency, Rt Hon. Ime Okon for Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency, Rt Hon. Aniekan Bassey for Akwa Ibom North East Senatorial District, Pastor Umo Eno for Governor of Akwa Ibom State and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as President and Commander in Chief.

Also speaking, the USPI Women Leader for Ibiono Ibom, Mrs Uyai Francis said the women’s wing had already started mobilising women across all the political Wards of Ibiono Ibom to drum support for the election of Pastor Umo Eno as the next Governor of Akwa Ibom State and a PDP candidates come 2023. She charged members of the group to return to their Wards and units and ensure the work hard to convince people to stick with PDP for peace, security and economic prosperity to be sustained in the State.

On his part, the National Chairman of USPI, Dr Samuel Edet lauded the group for remaining steadfast despite reports of recent defections from PDP in Ibiono Ibom Local Government Area. He assured them that USPI will not forget to reward loyalty when the new Government led by Pastor Umo Eno is finally inaugurated come May 29, 2023 and therefore charged them to go and deliver their Wards to the PDP.

Dr Edet charged USPI Ibiono Ibom chapter to shun violence and peacefully market all PDP Candidates for the 2023 general elections and assured them of victory. He explained that the International Patron of USPI and Executive Chairman of Uyo Capital City Development Authority, Prince Enobong Uwah sent his goodwill while lauding a prominent Ibiono Ibom son, Mr Churchill Udoh for being a Pillar of Support to the USPI.

Dr Edet assured that Pastor Umo Eno will not only consolidate the industrialization drive of Governor Emmanuel with entrepreneurial development, wealth creation and human capacity building but will sustain the current peace and security prevalent in the State.

Highlights of the well attended meeting saw members endorse the objectives of the USPI and a pledge to align with Governor Udom Emmanuel’s succesion agenda.

Goodwill messages were received from the National Women Leader of USPI, Mrs Peace Kokoette Eno, Mr Nse Benjamin, Deputy Coordinator USPI Ibiono Ibom Chapter, Dr. Benson Ekpeyoung, secretary USPI Ibiono Ibom and the USPI National Director for Mobilisation, Hon. Sunday Uyire.
