2023 Guber: Pastor Umo Eno eulogizes Onofiok Luke for stepping down
The PDP Governorship Candidate in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has described former governorship aspirant, Barr Onofiok Luke as a humble, honest and sincere brother who is passionate about the development of the State.
He has also promised to partner with the Etinan Federal House of Representatives member in his quest to sustain the peace and economic development in the state.
Speaking at the Palace of the Oku Ibom Ibibio and President General of the Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council, shortly after Barr Luke collapsed his campaign structure and support base to him, Pastor Eno promised to integrate all his supporters and work together with him in the overall interest of the state.
He used the occasion to share his blueprint with the erstwhile Governorship aspirant, assuring that his governorship ambition was borne from the need to trigger his experience in managing businesses with the aim of supporting and encouraging people in small and medium scale enterprises to grow.
The member representing Etinan Federal Constituency, Rt Hon Onofiok Luke, who stunned the paramount rulers at the Palace, declared his support to Pastor Umo Eno’s ambition with a call on his supporters to queue behind the PDP Candidate .
He said the reconciliation meeting was symbolic because it was instituted by his fathers and as a child from a humble home, he couldn’t disobey the monarchs.
“It would have been very difficult for me to be convinced if this meeting had been at the instance of any other set of people.
“I never haboured any intention to betray my party PDP because everything I have achieved, has been made possible by the PDP,” Barr Luke stated.
The Oku Ibom Ibibio and Paramount Ruler of Nsit Ubium where both men hail from, insisted that he was bent on ensuring that politics does not divide his children.
Ntenyin Etuk who orchestrated the reconciliation in the presence of other paramount rulers said as a father he could not stay alive to watch his children stay at opposite directions.
He advised the winner of the PDP primaries, Pastor Umo Eno to carry his brother and others along, as more hands make the job a lot easier.
“It is like a farm, with more hands, the weeding is easier.”
Pastor Umo Eno was accompanied by his running mate, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, Secretary of MPM, Prince Enobong Uwah, House of Assembly Member, Otobong Bob, former PDP Chairman and House of Representatives Candidate, Paul EKPO, major players in the state’s private sector, Engr. Uwem Okoko (Hensek)and Elder Aniefiok Johnny(Nsik Motors) among others.
