JUST IN: Niger Governor Sacks Predecessor’s Appointees, Dissolves Commissions and Boards

Niger State Governor, Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago, has ordered the dissolution of various statutory Commissions, Boards, and Parastatals, along with terminating the services of all Political Appointees who were appointed prior to May 29, 2023.

This newspaper reports that a statement released by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Abubakar Usman, Governor Umar Bago directed the immediate dissolution and termination of these appointments.

This directive applies to both tenured and non-tenured Commissions, Boards, and Parastatals.

Alhaji Usman emphasised the importance of prompt compliance with the Governor’s order from all concerned officials.

While acknowledging the positive contributions made by these individuals to the State’s progress and their respective offices, the SSG instructed those affected by the dissolution to hand over all Government properties, including official vehicles, to the most senior Director within their respective organisations.

The statement also conveyed the Governor’s well-wishes to the former members of the dissolved Commissions, Boards, Parastatals, and Political Appointees, expressing hope for their future success in their upcoming endeavors.
