Hilary Ekawu urges Doma United to ‘stick together’ after disappointing Dakkada loss

Doma United midfielder Hilary Ekawu says they must stick together after losing to Dakkada in Uyo on Saturday.

The Savannah Scorpions were hoping to take a step towards finishing in the top three of the Nigeria Premier Football League Group B when they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to bottom-placed Dakkada in a result that saw them drop to fourth on the table but level on points with 3rd placed Niger Tornadoes.

“We have to make sure it’s not [damaging]” Ekawu said to Lodgexpress official website after the final whistle.

“It’s just one game so we have to ensure the next one we’re on the level that everyone expects us to be at. One bad match can happen but we have to make sure it’s only one and strike back and that starts immediately tomorrow at the training ground. We have to keep looking forward to the brighter side and that is our position on the table.

If we’re disappointed? obviously yes,” he added.

“It was a tough one for us to take. We’ve played really, really good this season and had so many good games. This one I think luck was not on our side because we had an opportunity to have scored but it hit the post. We’re going to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

“I think it’s up to everybody to stick together. It’s easy to stick together when we’re winning and doing well, so we’ll stick together and fight to win the next game.”
