Clergies intensify prayers for Umo Eno’s victory, peace in Akwa Ibom State
In a show of solidarity with one of their own, Church leaders under the aegis of Fathers In Faith for Good Governance, at the weekend intensified prayers and supplications to God to help Pastor Umo Eno, a leading contender for the Akwa Ibom State gubernatorial seat, coast home to victories in both party primary May 23 and actual elections March next year.
Leading the prayer fireworks, President General of the movement, Prelate Prof. Isaiah Issong, said that while all preparations were being put in place to ensure a smooth sail through the elections, disgruntled elements within the State, were hell-bent to thwart the plan of God for Akwa Ibom State.
Consequently, according to his account, he had to rally Church leaders across the State to intensify prayers against the forces working to upend God’s agenda in Akwa Ibom State.
Prelate Issong, 78, was observed on his knees, alongside the crowd of pastors and intercessors, hauling defensive spiritual missiles against what he described as “the evil devices by the enemies of Governor Udom Emmanuel and his succession plan.”
Giving more insight to newsmen after the prayer convergence, he said: “There are desperate moves by those irked by the overwhelming support that Pastor Umo Eno has received so far during his consultation visits to stakeholders, to stop God’s plan. This is why the Fathers In Faith for Good Governance is arousing pastors to be on alert to frustrate their schemes.”
Continuing, he added: “There is no doubt that come Monday May 29, 2023, Pastor Umo Eno will be sworn in to take over the seat of power in Hilton Mansion, Akwa Ibom State. You can quote me on this,” he asserted.
He called on party delegates to support God’s plan for Akwa Ibom State, by voting Pastor Umo Eno at the party primary, assuring that he will ensure the candidate fulfill the yearning of most Akwa Ibomites.
Buttressing, the erudite clergy, who went down memory lane to recount how his public prophecies accurately were fulfilled, revealed that he received in 2020 the vision on how Pastor Umo Eno ascended the seat of power and that it was being fulfilled, as no force on earth could stop God’s plan.”
On why the choice of Pastor Umo Eno, amongst several others jostling for the gubernatorial seat, he said: “Place Pastor Umo Eno alongside other contestants and you will clearly find out that he towers above all others in true leadership qualities.”
“For someone who has built the first lasting indigenous business for nearly 30 years in Akwa Ibom State; paying salaries of 25 million naira monthly to his almost 1000 employees; who is also pastoring a church of hundreds of members, a man of peace who genuinely loves Akwa Ibomites; what other qualities would you go for?”
He averred that it was dangerous to allow “a traditional, professional politician to mount the seat of power in this State, because whoever comes to power, comes with his gods or deities. Akwa Ibom State is called after God almighty and God is interested in this State.’
He stated that it has been the prayers of the church years ago for God to give the State a truly God-fearing person as Governor, someone who will sustain the legacies of Deacon Udom Emmanuel and expand infrastructure to the rural areas. Pastor Umo Eno possess these qualities,” he stressed.
We gathered that the prayer rally, held at Great Faith Church, Aka Itiam, Uyo, was the final lap of Senatorial Districts tour embarked upon by the Fathers In Faith for Good Governance. Titled, Re-Awakenning, it was deliberately hosted to arouse pastors all over the wards of the State on the imperative of participation of the church in politics and also to drum up support for Pastor Umo Eno.
The prayer train began at Ikot Ekpene Senatorial district, then roared through Eket, before it berthed at Uyo, the State capital. Meanwhile, a chain prayer across the state, coordinated by the body’s prayer coordinator, Apostle Dr. Abasiodiong Thomas, holds each night and will continue till the elections are over.
