Retired Primary school Teachers under the aegis of Forum of Retired Primary School Teachers,Akwa Ibom State have hailed the State Governor,Pastor Umo Eno for prioritizing the welfare of Pensioners and Retirees with the release of funds for payment of gratuities, particularly to Retired Primary School Teachers .
The Chairman of the forum, Rev. Obong Felix Cookey gave the thumbs up when he led the leadership team of the forum on a courtesy call on the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Frank Archibong at his office in Uyo on Tuesday.
Obong Cookey expressed delight that Governor Eno since assumption of office has deployed over 4.4 Billion Naira for payment of gratuities,a development he described as incredible, lauding his humane disposition and sterling leadership, asserting that the Governor has fulfilled his campaign promises to be the retirees.
“Governor Umo Eno’s unwavering commitment towards the payment of gratuities has brought immeasurable relief to countless lives and his dedication to addressing the plights of Retired Primary school Teachers shows he is a compassionate leader who recognizes the invaluable contributions of those who have dedicated their lives to Education”.
He equally lauded the Commissioner for his efforts in pushing the needs of retired Local Government workers and primary school teachers to the fore which he said have yielded fruits, a development he noted “has brought comfort and security to those who had dedicated their lives to shaping the future of our youths”.
The Chairman however drew the attention of the State Government to pension arrears owed some of their colleagues who retired between 2013 to 2020 soliciting intervention in that regards, while pledging continued support to the present administration.
Responding, the Commissioner, Hon Frank Archibong appreciated the Forum of retired primary school teachers for their altruistic services and painstaking efforts in grooming, mentoring and nurturing the future leaders of the country during their active years in service.
The Commissioner lauded the leadership of the forum for their show of gratitude to Governor Umo Eno which he said propels inspiration, assuring that as a humane and a listening Governor,Pastor Umo Eno will not rest on his oars in addressing all their agitations.
He called on them to continue to pray and support the Governor to succeed in implementing his lofty agenda for the people
The visit featured the presentation of an award and Certificate of Recognition of ETE IBEREDEM on Commissioner Frank Archibong.
Present were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Elder Ini Ikie, Secretary of the Forum, Hon Emmanuel S. Udoaka and other Executive members of the forum.
