A’IBOM STATE GOVT.COMMENDS COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS FOR PEACE AT ARMED FORCES THANKSGIVING SERVICE.

The Akwa Ibom state government has officially recognized and applauded the collective efforts of the Service Chiefs in the state for their collaborative work in ensuring sustainable peace.
Pastor Umo Eno, the Governor, praised the Service Chiefs during an inter-denominational thanksgiving service held at the International Christian Worship Centre in Uyo, commemorating the 2024 Armed Forces celebration and remembrance day.
Represented by Deputy Governor Senator (Dr) Akon Eyakenyi, Governor Umo Eno reiterated the government’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the peace that Akwa Ibom state is renowned for.
Acknowledging the role of security agencies, the Governor highlighted the significant contribution of these agencies in achieving the peaceful disposition of the state through effective collaboration.
Governor Umo Eno emphasized the importance of honoring and supporting military personnel who have paid the ultimate price for the nation, as the state gathered to celebrate its fallen heroes during the thanksgiving service.
Pastor Umo Eno assured that his administration would prioritize the safety and security of the state, mentioning the establishment of the Ministry of Internal Security and the Ibom Neighborhood Watch to support security efforts.
The Governor explained the establishment of the Ibom Neighborhood Watch, where younger individuals are trained to collaborate with security agencies across the 31 Local Government Areas, ensuring information flow and prompt action.
The chairman of the Nigerian Legion Akwa Ibom state, Engr Joseph Esu Rtd, expressed gratitude for the government’s support, providing a sense of belonging for the Legion, and pledged continued support for the present administration.
Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, highlighted the event’s purpose of remembering those who sacrificed for peace, emphasizing the deserving recognition of retired service men.
Dr. Ini Adiakpan appreciated Governor Umo Eno for his interest in the well-being of Service Men and acknowledged the effective synergy between the government and security formations in the state.
Rev(Dr) Ndueso Ekwere delivered a homily on “Reward for Service,” urging Christians to be diligent and committed, emphasizing that every service rendered has its reward.
The event featured choir renditions, prayers for the state, country, Armed forces, Nigerian Legion, and the families of fallen heroes.
Members of the house of assembly, state executive council, permanent secretaries, Royal fathers, as well as serving and retired Service Chiefs, were in attendance at the thanksgiving service.
