Don’t Criminalize Umo Eno For Joining APC —- Jumbo

Amidst speculations that the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, may likely defect to the All Progressive Congress, APC , to secure his second term aspiration, the Representative of Abak/ EtimEkpo/Ika Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Clement Jumbo, has enjoined all supporters of the Governor and PDP faithfuls not to Criminalize him should that becomes a reality.

Speaking with Journalists in the State after his recent expression of gratitude to his constituent members for standing by him to the end during the last election, the National Lawmaker said that a Political Party is only a platform and that if the Governor should see All Progressive Congress as a veritable platform for him to leverage and ventilate his aspiration, he should do so.

He said that precedents abound everywhere of staunch and loyal party men dumping their former platforms to embrace new ones even before the emergence of Peoples Democratic Party in 1999.

In his analysis of the party, Hon. Jumbo said that what makes PDP tick is the party’s depth organizational skills while the All Progressive Congress posseses the numerical strength.

Hon Jumbo, who is also the Deputy Chairman , Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, House of Representatives, while debunking claims of disunity in All Progressive Congress in the State , harped on the need for the party to consolidate on its victory during the last general election by beginning early to re-strategize for expansion.

According to him, ” the three sits that we have won in the last election, we intend to expand, nobody wants to be stagnant.

” We’ve gotten three positions: Abak/ EtimEkpo/ Ika Federal Constituency; we’ve gotten Ikot Ekpene/ Essien Udim/ Obot Akara Federal Constituency and we’ve equally gotten Akwa Ibom North West ( Ikot Ekpene) Senatorial District. ” So that is three, there’s nothing wrong having a good projection that in the next outing we should do more “, he stated.

On his post inauguration performance in the green chamber, he mentioned the following as his score card within the period under review.

First Akwa Ibom lawmaker to move a motion two days after inauguration on June 13, 2023 — an infrastructural motion to draw attention of Nigerians to the plight of his Constituency; First Bill (though not stated) , has passed through first reading and is undergoing the processes for a second reading.

He said that as Deputy Chairman, Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, he is saddled with the responsibility of scrutinizing and interfacing with Ministries, Directorates and Agencies of government to make sure their performances are up to date.

The APC National Lawmaker continued that he is engaged in countless intervention projects including completion of town hall in ward 3, Abak Local Government Area, which he said is awaiting inauguration; donation of 70 brand new laptops to his Constituent beneficiaries; training of 31 young women in the 31 wards that constitute the federal Constituency in cosmetology, medical outreach programmes on over 2000 people where some went through dental surgery, carried out various tests ranging from malaria to typhoid tests as well as treatment of same; presentation of N50,000.00 cash each, to 80 students from the Constituency.

Others according to him include: grading of 10.8 km road , production and distribution of 1500 school bags for school children, printing of 20 million exercise books and many other ongoing interventional approaches.
