As Nigerians across party lines continue to appreciate the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno over the trajectory of development in the State, the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has added his voice with specific mention of the support given to the State Command of the Force.

Speaking at the inauguration of three projects in the State Police Command, Ikot Akpan Abia executed by the Commissioner, CP Olatoye Durosinmi, the IGP said since his arrival, he has seen and heard of the Governor’s support to different divisions of the State Command as well as committed partnership to maintain peace and security.

Recall that Governor Eno has since assumption of office in May 29 paid unscheduled visits to different police divisions in the State including Eket Area Command and Divisional Headquarters, and offered to provide solar- powered light and pipe borne water where there were none.

The Police boss who is in the State for a conference and seminar organised for Nigeria Police PROs and PR Experts, said it was his first official visit to the State since his appointment as the IGP, stressing that he was impressed with the Governor and the State generally.

IGP Egbetokun noted that given the pace of development in Akwa Ibom, it will soon become a model for others adding, “I have decided that I am now a citizen of Akwa Ibom State. I am so impressed with what is happening.”

Governor Eno recalled with nostalgia, his early childhood days in the barracks being the son of a police officer who rose through the rank and file saying he was proud of police roots.

The Governor who is evidently attached to the force given his background, disclosed plans to have an evening of motivation with children of police officers, especially those of the rank and file.

He said the evening of motivation is conceived as a way to give back to his roots by inspiring the children of the police officers to believe in themselves and aspire to greatness.

Governor Eno also commended the Commissioner of Police for his initiatives and for his collaboration with other security agencies to ensure peace in the State.

On his part, CP Durosinmi said the project was initiated to immortalise men who had led the police force in time past and appreciated the State Governor, the government and people of Akwa Ibom State for their support towards the projects’ execution and also helping to maintain peace and security.
