GOV UMO ENO EXTOLS ATTAH’S DOGGEDNESS IN RESOURCE CONTROL FIGHT …Leads A’Ibom People To Felicitate Former Governor At 85

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has extolled the love and passion demonstrated by Architect Victor Attah for the state, in the fight for resource control during his administration, as he felicitates the former governor on his 85th birthday.

Governor Umo Eno made the felicitations on Sunday, at the St. Dominic’s Church of Perpetual Adoration, Uyo, where he led government functionaries to join the celebration of a Thanksgiving Mass in honour of the former governor.

Architect (Obong) Victor Attah was Akwa Ibom’s first elected governor in Nigeria’s fourth republic, who was famous for leading the resource control struggle against the offshore-onshore crude oil dichotomy, to confer the oil producing state status and subsequent 13% derivation benefit in allocation of federal resources.

In adorning tributes, Governor Eno lauded Obong Attah’s led statesmanship in his days by leading a united Akwa Ibom, void of superficial sentiments, describing him father of the modern Akwa Ibom State, whose imprints in governance have served as a template for the development by successive administrations in the state and account for the revenue that accrue to the state from the federation account.

“I can say a little bit about your love and passion for the state. I can say a little bit about resource control that we are all enjoying today. I can talk about your doggedness in fighting for any course you believe in, a man who is not carried away by sentiments, but once he’s w swayed into any course, he doesn’t back down until he achieves results.

Thank you for making Akwa Ibom what it is today. You played that foundation. All of the things we see today, the airport, the seaport, a united Akwa Ibom are things that you dreamt of and I thank God that in your lifetime these things are being achieved. We are fortunate that in our generation, God raised a man like you Sir, to charts a course which we now follow”, Governor Eno stated.

The governor thank God for keeping Obong Attah alive for the 85 years he was being celebrated and for using him to build a pillar of strength for the state and therefore conveyed the felicitations of the people and government of Akwa Ibom State to him at 85, with payers for God’s sustenance and strength to do more for Akwa Ibom and humanity.

Highpoint of the event was offering of prayers for the former yand his family by the Chief celebrator of the Thanksgiving Mass, the Metropolitan Archbishop of Calabar, Most Reverend Joseph Ekuwem.
