GOV. UMO ENO APPOINTS ERNEST AKPAN, SA, OTHERS AS MEDIA AIDES

Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has appointed Comrade Ernest Akpan, the Pioneer Chairman of the Federated Chapel of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Akwa Ibom State Branch, as Special Assistant (SA) in charge of Local Media.

The appointment, along with 49 others, was announced through a letter dated November 1, 2023, and signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwa.

Ernest Akpan brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked with renowned news brands such as The Facts, NewsDay, The Shield, and The TOWNCRIER Newspapers. With almost two decades in journalism, Akpan is highly respected and currently serves as the Publisher and CEO of The TOWNCRIER Newspapers LTD., a prominent publication in the state.

Throughout his career, Akpan has made significant contributions, including coordinating the Maintain Peace Movement (MPM) Media Team, which played a pivotal role in the emergence of Governor Umo Eno. In 2023, he was appointed as the Head of Local Media in the governor’s campaign organization.

In addition to his role as Special Assistant, Akpan serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for A.R.I.S.E AMBASSADORS, a dedicated group focused on promoting and defending the ARISE AGENDA blueprint of the governor.

Prior to his current appointment, he diligently served as Special Assistant to former Governor Udom Emmanuel, overseeing Project Monitoring.

Ernest Akpan is an esteemed alumnus of the prestigious Lutheran High School, Obot Idim. He is happily married to Mrs. Inemesit Ernest Akpan and is a proud father of three children.
