Ibom Deep Seaport A Turnkey For A’Ibom, Says Former Minister …List Projects For Eket Zone

Former minister for Lands and Housing and political leader of Eket senatorial district, Chief Nduese Essien has urged Governor Umo Eno to ensure the completion of life-touching projects in Eket senatorial district.

Chief Essien listed the Ibom Deep-seaport, the Export Processing Zone in Ikot Abasi, five star hotel among key projects that can positively turn around the economy of the Senatorial district and state as a whole.

He made the remark during ‘a thank you’ visit of Governor Eno to Eket Senatorial District on Thursday, 13 October 2023, at his residence in Nta Isip, Ikot Ibiok, Eket Local Government.

According to him, the projects if completed during the first tenure of his administration will make Eket senatorial district at par with other two Senatorial Districts in the State.

He requested the Governor to complete Ibom Deep Seaport noting that, it is a turnkey project for the State.

“Your Excellency, try and complete Ibom Deep Seaport during the first tenure of your administration, because it is a turnkey project for the State. Once that is completed, the State will be economically more viable”.

“Ibom Deep Seaport will not be completed without dual carriage from Ikot Abasi and terminating at Oron”, he added.

Speaking on other projects in Eket Senatorial District, Essien pleaded the Governor to follow up with the federal government on the Export Processing Zone in Ikot Abasi, ensure the completion of road constructions from Abat through Ikot Akpatek to Odio, Qua steel road the spurs from Nditia to Odio.

Accordingly, he implored the governor to complete cycle of development of international standard hotel in Eket Senatorial District to bring to par with other two Senatorial Districts in Akwa Ibom State.

“Some years ago, the government said they were disinvesting from hotel business and that led to the close down of government hotels including the Qua River Hotel that was very viable, but today we have international hotel in other two Senatorial Districts, your Excellency please we request you to complete the cycle of development by also establishing a five star hotel in a high-rise building in ESD so that this senatorial district will come at par with other two senatorial districts”.

“We trust you, you have started off well, we are so impressed. We know you as an entrepreneur, so use your business acumen to do those things for us”, he pleaded.
