ELECTION VICTORY : GOV ENO APPRECIATES EKET SEN. District . . Assures on commencement of Ibom Seaport, Ikot Ubo-Nsit Atai Road Projects

Akwa Ibom State Government is set to commence the construction of Orukim – Unyenge road in Mbo Local Government Area to create access to the site of the underway Ibom Deep Seaport project.

The State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, made this known during a “Thank You Visit” to Eket Senatorial District, held at the residence of the leader of the Senatorial District, Rt. Hon. Nduese Essien, in Ntaisip, Ikot Ibiok, Eket LGA .

Governor Eno who used the occasion to address salient issues raised by stakeholders of the twelve local government areas of the District also
directed the commencement of Ikot Ubo-Nsit Atai road project to ease movement of people from the Eket axis to the Victor Attah International Airport in Uyo.

According to Governor Eno, the visit was to acknowledge and thank the people of Eket Senatorial District for the overwhelming support towards his emergence as governor in the last general elections, in fulfilment of his promise to maintain a relationship with the people beyond seeking their votes.

He said , “I have come today to say thank you to the twelve local governments that make up the Eket senatorial district. Thank you very much for your support during our electioneering campaigns. Sometimes I feel like I should move from house to house but I believe that our engagement in life touching projects is also a means of expressing our gratitude to you.”

He assured that his government will make conscious efforts through interventions and execution of development projects that will positively impact the people of the rural areas and further enthrone peace in the state, urging stakeholders and leaders to address delicate issues with wisdom and caution to avoid crisis, adding that they should promote peace to enhance development.

“Every year, we go to them and appealed for votes but after that we go and never care to return. These ones do not feel the impact of Government. Let’s return to them and provide schools, markets and hospitals. Projects will go round.

“That is why we have resolved that we will not take your votes for granted. We will put in all our efforts to serve Akwa Ibom State to ensure that we do the best we can to the glory of God”, he assured.

Reacting to issues arising from the One Project- Per- Local Government Initiative of his administration, the State’s Chief Executive urged stakeholders to play down on the struggle for political leadership but work together in harmony in the choice of projects to enable government actualize its development plans for people at the grassroots.

The governor assured that in the course of time, he would appoint a Special Assistant on Youth from each Federal Constituency who would be expected to work with the Senior Special Assistant on Youth for effective handling of issues concerning youths in the state.

The Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, in her goodwill message, sued for time, understanding and cooperation from the people, assuring that Governor Umo Eno led-administration came ready to serve the people.

Also, Senator representing Eket Senatorial District, Senator Ekong Sampson enunciated the strong footing of leadership set by Governor Umo Eno since his assumption of office and, on behalf of the people of Eket Senatorial District, passed a vote of confidence on the governor.

Other stakeholders including the political leader of Eket Senatorial District and former Minister, Chief Nduese Essien, Chief Okon Etuk who spoke on behalf of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency, Dan Abia for Eket Federal Constituency, former SSG, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem for Oron Federal Constituency and Ikpoto Okon Osung, applauded Governor Umo Eno’s approach to governance, pledging their support to the success of his government.

High point of the visit was a vote of confidence passed on Governor Umo Eno as captured in a motion moved by the Senator representing Akwa Ibom South in the Senate, Senator Ekong Sampson, seconded by former lawmaker, Peter Linus Umoh and unanimously endorsed by the people of Eket Senatorial District.
