GOV ENO IN NEW YORK: REASSURES ON ESTABLISHMENT OF ELDERLY WELFARE CENTERS, MODEL SCHOOLS …COMMENDS TINUBU ON INCLUSIVENESS IN LEADERSHIP

Both the young and old have been reassured of priority attention in the current administration in Akwa Ibom State.
Accordingly, special centers to cater for the welfare and wellbeing of the elderly are to be established, just as model public schools and health facilities are on the cards for execution across the the State.
The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno who is in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s delegation to the 78th UN General Assembly, disclosed this on the flanks when he addressed a cross- section of Nigerians, and investors in New York.
He spoke in glowing terms of President Tinubu’s inclusivity in governance, explaining that it portends hope for a better Nigeria.
He said the Nigerian President was showing himself to be a leader who is ready to work with everyone, irrespective of political party differences, to build the nation.
“I am a PDP member and I’m on a different political platform, but the President has shown a fatherly disposition as a man who practices what he says and there is inclusivity and we are working together and I thank him because his gesture gives us hope for our country.”
He said his administration in Akwa Ibom is implementing his blueprint, tagged A.R.I.S.E. Agenda.
“Based on the parameters we’ve set for ourselves, we are setting up model schools to make our schools attractive for our children; we wish to give them uniforms, we will give them shoes, and other incentives.
“We are building healthcare centers across the State and introduction of ambulances in local communities to handle medical emergencies.
“We are embarking on building senior people’s centers to help our elderly. These are some of the things we are doing.
Pastor Eno also opened up on the recent commencement of palliatives distribution back home in his State, which he had personally flagged off.
He said his government ensured that at least 5 billion naira was injected to complement the 2billion he had received from the federal government.
The Governor disclosed that the rice palliatives are being delivered directly to the 2,272 gazetted villages, with 40 bags going to each of the villages, while part of the funds is also being used to pay gratuities and other benefits to retired workers in the State.
