FRANK ARCHIBONG TASKS EARCOM ON EFFECTUAL PROMOTION OF ARISE AGENDA

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Frank Archibong has tasked the leadership of Ethical and Attitudinal Reorientation Commission, EARCOM, to embark on robust advocacy for effectual propagation of the Arise Agenda to the people.

The Commissioner was speaking during a courtesy call on him by the Chairman and Commissioners of EARCOM in Uyo on Monday.

He emphasized the critical responsibilities of EARCOM in reawakening the consciousness of the people on Government’s plans and programs, stressing that a lot is expected of the Commission as such there should be stronger engagements with the people for them to key into the development blueprint of Government.

Archibong commended the leadership of EARCOM for the innovations, strategies and feats recorded so far, especially the plan to monitor distribution of palliatives in all the Local Government Areas, urging them not to rest on their oars but to see their success as a leverage to achieve more.

While assuring the team of support and partnership with the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Commissioner Archibong enjoined them to also seek collaborations with other relevant MDAs for enhanced efficiency and effectiveness.

Flanked by his Permanent Secretary, Elder Ini Ikie, the Chieftaincy Affairs boss expressed confidence in the capacities of Chairman and board members to deliver the Commission’s mandate, urging them to also take advantage of several media platforms to reach out to the people

Earlier in her remarks, the Chairman of EARCOM and leader of the delegation, Dr. Dorothy Thompson said the visit was to strengthen the ties with the Ministry as well as intimate the Commissioner of plans to take their advocacy program to the hinterlands, rural communities in the 31 LGAs given the Ministry’s affilliation with Local Government in the State .

Dr Thompson said the essence of the tour of LGAs apart from monitoring distribution of palliatives and getting feedback to Government would also be to drum into the ears of the people the imperative of being responsible citizens so as to curb crime rates,untoward behaviors in order to sustain the peace Akwa Ibom State is known for.

She however regretted that paucity of funds and inadequate number of vehicles were hampering their smooth operations, soliciting the support of the Ministry as well as partnership to enable EARCOM actualize her goals.

Highpoint of the visit was the presentation of the maiden edition of the Commission’s magazine, “ETI UKARA” to the Commissioner.

The Chairman of EARCOM was accompanied on the visit by Mr Ubong Ekefre, Mr Tommy Enodien, Mr Goodnews Ediene and Rev. Osondu Ahirika-all Commissioners.
