Frank Archibong MEETS VILLAGE HEADS, SEEKS FORMIDABLE SYNERGY FOR RURAL SECURITY, GOOD GOVERNANCE

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong, has called for a stronger synergy between its Ministry and the traditional institutions to ensure absolute protection and safety of govenemt properties across the 31 Lgas.

Archibong, who decried the rate at which government properties are destroyed and vandalized by hoodlums, stated this on Friday, during a strategic meeting with Coordinators of Village Heads, urging them to be formidable in supporting Governor Umo Eno to succeed in his determination to bring governance to the people at the grassroot through the Arise Agenda.

He thanked them for thier firm support during and after the election which saw to the emergence of Pastor Umo Eno as Governor, and charged them to explore their individual channels and approach in fighting insecurity in their various dormains, while thanking them for showing up for the meeting, he assured them of conveying their requests to the governor, promising that in no distant time, the issue of insecurity will become history.

“We must partner and support government to succeed at all levels. We want leadership that will take over ownership of government assets, strengthen security, build bridges of harmonious coexistence to allow smooth development”

The Chieftaincy Affairs Boss, commended the governor for introducing the Ministry of Internal Security to further boost community security and safety of government assets across board, stressing that issuance of certificates to recognized village heads is not a guarantee for anyone to perpetuate criminality or breach existing peace in the state.

“We really need to work as a family, team and, as a unit for mutual respect to the traditional institutions. Once we are done with taking stock of all village heads in the 2,272 gazzated villages and have their valid data base, we will organize seminars and leadership trainings to properly equip you with updated traditional laws because the governor needs your support to succeed”

In their separate remarks, Coordinator of Village Heads in Mkpat Enin LGA., Obong Boniface Silas Ekanem, Chief David Ime Ibibom, (Eket), Chief Francis Morgan Udo, Village Head, Aka Offort/Coordinator Uyo LGA., Chief Jeremiah Akpan, (Ini) and Obong Emmanuel Unaedet (Abak), while pledging to collectively support Governor Umo Eno’s government to boost rural security, good governance, guarantee peace, described Frank Archibong, as a dynamic, accessible and resourceful commissioner capable to translate the Arise Agenda for the overall interest of traditional institutions.
They appealed for an upgrade in their welfare package, verification of families before creating a village out of it.
“We are optimistic of a better and peaceful Akwa Ibom under Pastor Umo Eno and we will not relent to partner in supporting Governor Umo Eno’s effort towards combating crimes and protecting government properties from being vandalized”.They added.

The meeting had in attendance, Elder Ini Ikie ,Permanent secretary, Chief Emmanuel Umontuen , Secretary, Akwa Ibom State Traditional Rulers Council, Mrs. Josephine Etuk, information officer and 28 coordinators of the forum apart from Nsit Atai, Nsit Ubium and Eastern Obolo Coordinators who were absent.
