Wife of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, Saturday August 5, joined the Methodist Church faithful for the 45th Biennial Conference of the National Women’s Fellowship of the Church.
Pastor Eno, was a Special Guest at the biennial conference of the 90-year-old Women’s fellowship, which took place at the Grooves Cathedral of the Methodist Church Ikot Ekpene with the theme “Contending For The Faith”
Addressing the women, the Governor’s wife who expressed delight that the women fellowship had existed for 90 years, said she was at the conference to celebrate the milestones recorded by the women as well as join them in thanksgiving.
“I’m here today to congratulate and thank God with you for what God has done. For a church to be ninety years of existence is indeed filled with God’s faithfulness, Mercy, Grace, and everything good He has blessed us with,” the First Lady said.
She enjoined them to always live a life of gratitude for all what God has done and not only when good things happen, so, they can receive multiple blessings.
“I came to present myself to God as a living sacrifice. I’m joining you all in thanking him and asking for his mercies, I know that God will accept this thanksgiving that we have offered before Him today in Jesus name, Amen.” She enthused.
In a Keynote address on the theme of the conference, “Contending for the Faith,” drawn from Jude chapter 1 vs 3, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education Lady Rose Bassey referred to Sarah, Esther, Rebecca, Hannah and Deborah as women of faith whose experiences stand as references of great faith and rewards.
Lady Bassey urged the women to hold on to their faith in God, trusting that their diligence and commitment to Gods work will be rewarded in due time.
Other speakers at the conference talked to the participants on the proper upbringing of their children as well as the need to positively model acceptable virtues for young women to emulate so that the society can be a better place.
The Daughters of Westley representing different tribes and cultures had a special dance presentation for the Governor’s Wife who had earlier made a donation towards the Women’s Fellowship Zonal Building project in Ikot Ekpene and presented gifts of wrappers and cash for the women of the host church before joining in the cutting of the anniversary cake.
The Archbishop of Ikot Ekpene Arch Diocese of the Methodist Church Nigeria, the most Reverend Etim Ekong, together with the National Executive of the Women’s Fellowship led by the National President Deaconess Maria Aba presented gifts to the Governor’s wife who was later decorated with the women’s Fellowship Uniform which they referred to as a symbol of honor.
