The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Akwa Ibom State Council has extended its goodwill to him, describing his emergence as deserving, historic and a positive development for Akwa Ibom State.
The Union notes that Senator Akpabio’s election, unarguably, is a huge political investment on him by his colleagues who were driven by unassailable conviction that he will provide quality leadership to deepen good governance in Nigeria, which is the most effective tool for achieving sustainable development and for the promotion of the well-being of Nigerians.

In a goodwill message signed by the State Chairman, Comrade Amos Etuk, and State Secretary, Comrade Dominic Akpan, the Union said Akpabio’s emergence represents
a new dawn in Akwa Ibom State, and will expectedly ‘consolidate on the foundation of our growth over the last three decades.’
‘While we wish you the best as you brace up to the demands of your high office, we also pray fervently to the Almighty God to guide your steps, preserve and imbue you with the knowledge of King Solomon throughout your tenure in Jesus name,” the Union says in the goodwill message.
It would be recalled that Senator Akpabio in a hard-fought contest for the office of Senate President defeated Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, a former governor of Zamfara State with 63 votes to 46.
Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State was the favourite for the Senate’s top job as he enjoyed the support of President Bola Tinubu; Vice-President Kashim Shettima; the leadership of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, governors and stakeholders in the party.
