The Evangelist News Edition, June 10, 2023. By Charles Bassey, Abuja.

A member of the Presidential Campaign Council and former aspirant for the senate to represent Uyo senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State in the 2023 general elections, Dr. Ndem Udoudo Ndem has described distinguished senator Godswill Akpabio as a rare gift to the Nigerian senate.
Dr. Ndem, a certified Podiatric surgeon in a chat with our correspondent in Abuja stated that Nigeria as a country and its citizens at this critical time of its national life was in need of tried, tested, and proven leaders with experience who would man critical sectors at all levels of Government.
Drawing reference to the current race for the top job at the senate, Dr. Ndem noted that the leadership qualities of the Former Akwa Ibom state Governor who is the top contender for the senate presidency, and his experience both as a two-term Governor and a senator who broke the jinx of becoming a principal officer in the 8th senate as a first timer was unparalleled.

He, therefore, called on all other contenders to close ranks with Senator Akpabio who served as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs in the immediate past administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, and unite in support of his emergence as president of the Nigerian Senate in the 10th National Assembly.
Speaking further, Dr. Ndem an ardent supporter of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who was also a member of the medical team of the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council Pointed out that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was a man who is gifted in harnessing the best human resources to execute jobs. He noted that support for Senator Godswill Akpabio’s senate presidency bid by the senators would be in line with Asiwaju’s philosophy of getting the right and the very best persons to get jobs done.

The medical practitioner who hails from Nsit-Atai Local Government area of Akwa Ibom state is the CEO, of Doctors Specialist Hospital, Uyo, and was a former two-term chairman of Akwa Ibom APC in the USA.

Meanwhile, the anointed candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the senate presidency, Godswill Akpabio, says 69 out of the 109 senators-elect have endorsed him for the seat.

Senator Akpabio who is the leading contender in the race for the senate presidency had earlier predicted that in the next coming days ahead of June 13, the number of his supporters in the Senate would increase to 85 or 86.
He made these assertions when he led his campaign team on a courtesy visit to the governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Mr Akpabio said the senators-elect supporting his ambition are people with integrity who have distanced themselves from money politics.
