Akwa United defender Ajako happy with assist for Muritala’s stunner in Shooting Stars win
Akwa United full-back James Ajako was delighted with his role in their defeat of Shooting Stars on Sunday afternoon.
Ajako was a constant threat going forward, setting up full-back Taiye Muritala for the stunning long ranger to seal their 2-0 win. He is enjoying the left wing-back role once again.
“It is not easy to go through the middle, so I like to do these runs from wide to inside,” he told Lodgexpress official website.
“I’m happy I got the assist and I am a pleased we kept a cleansheet for the win. We had chances to have scored two or three goals in the first half but we have to keep working and hopefully the next game we will convert 90% of our chances.
“When you are controlling the game like we did it gives you a little bit more freedom, but all we need to get together and defend well. That’s what we aim for, and that’s how it has to be to keep improving in the right way.”
