Akwa Ibom Sports Stakeholders Condole With Isong Isang’s Family

Sports Stakeholders in Akwa Ibom State on Saturday paid a condolence visit to the family of Late Obong (Sir) Isong Isang.

The brief condolence visit led by the Vice Chairman of the Group , Hon. Felix Udoh described late Isong as a leader who led the group in achieving milestones in the growth of sports in Akwa Ibom State and said that the visit was to identify with the family in this moment of grief.

He prayed God to comfort the family and give them the strength to overcome this season.

Earlier, setting the tone during the visit, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports and Chairman, Akwa United Football Club, Elder Paul Bassey described Late Isong Isang as a leader whose relationship was a model in the success story of sports development in Akwa Ibom State.

Elder Paul Bassey described the loss as a huge pain to the Sporting family in Nigeria emphasizing that Isong was a renowned national sports administrator and footballer.

” We have come to identify with the family . Isong was our Chairman, we have come to stand by your family and we will join hands to give him a befitting farewell”, Elder Paul Bassey said.

In her remarks, the widow of Isong Isang, Barr. (Mrs) Ime Isong Isang appreciated the delegation from the Akwa Ibom State Sports Stakeholders for their love and solidarity recalling the many moments her husband spoke glowingly about the Group and their overwhelming contributions to sports development in Akwa Ibom State.

” We thank you all for this visit. We thank you all for your words of comfort. This is a family my husband cherished and we are overwhelmed with the outpour of love upon the family “, Barr. Ime Isong said.

The delegation prayed for the family and presented a condolence letter to the family.

Activities leading to the funeral of Late Obong Isong Isang will continue on Monday, December 19,2022 with a football match in his honour between Akwa United and Dakkada Football Clubs. The match will take place at the Ikot Ekpene Stadium.

Tributes on the life and times of the late sports administrator were said by stakeholders during the visit.

Obong Isong Isang was a Chairman of Akwa United Football Club, former Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria,Akwa Ibom State Chapter and stakeholder in various football families.

Sir Isong Isang will be buried on January 6, 2023.
