Livakovic: The only goalkeeper in the entire world Cup to make four penalty shoot-out saves

Dominik Livakovic needs to be built a statue in Croatia for what he’s doing for his country at this World Cup.

Few might have heard or known about him before this tournament started, but he’s obviously making a name for himself in Qatar with his match-winning displays between the sticks.

The 27-year old is the reason Croatia are into the semifinals of the World Cup for the second consecutive time, and don’t be surprised if he eventually leads the small footballing nation to their first World Cup trophy.

Against one of, if not the outright favorites (Brazil), Livakovic showed he’s a big game player by making series of breathtaking saves which included one save to deny Rodrygo during the penalty shootouts.

Throughout the game, Dominik made a total of 11 saves (7 from close range), completed 26 passes, recorded an 81 percent pass accuracy and conceded just once across 120 minutes.

Livakovic then went on to stop Rodrygo’s spot-kick to become the first and only goalkeeper in World Cup history to make 4 penalty shootout saves.

This amazing goalie currently plays for Dinamo Zagreb, but judging from his performances so far, big clubs around Europe could go for him as early as January.
