Twenty-Six Army Officers Honored For Academic Excellence

The Nigerian Army has honored twenty-six officers who excelled in academic activities at various examination conducted by the Training and Doctrine of the Nigerian Army for the year 2022.

The event took place at Command Officers Mess 1 were awards of various categories ranging from Chief of Army Staff Commendation Award for Excellence, Lieutenant-Captain Promotion Examination and Awards for Best Candidates Per Subject while others are Captain to Major practical Promotion Examination among others.

The Infantry Corps also received award of best formation after beating the Nigerian Army Corps of Military Engineers and Nigerian Army Armored Corps who came second and third respectively.

Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya the Chief of Army Staff while speaking at the occasion, commended Major-General Stevenson Olabanji the Commander of the Training and Doctrine of the Nigerian Army for his steadfast and doggedness in developing necessary academics which he said encourages healthy academic competitions among officers of the Nigerian Army.

He added that rewards and punishment is essential key to human development. “Once you put in place rewards and punishment mechanism, it encourages health competitions and no one will love to be found in the negative side”, he said.

Yahaya commended Training and Doctrine of the Nigerian Army founding father for laying solid foundations for the institution to strive even as he thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for his Strategic directives and for providing the Nigerian Army with all the needed funds to execute its constitutional roles.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander TRADOC said the Merit Award was conceptualized to reward excellence which he described as key driver to success. Explained the inclusion of the Nigeria Army Corps in this year’s awards which is to encourage various Corps to take ownership and responsibility in the training and career development of officers of the Nigerian Army. That the award is a means of promoting and enhancing the overall administrative efficient then thanked the Chief of Army Staff for his support

Dignitaries that graced the occasion include Brigadier General Buba Marwa (rtd) the Chairman Nigeria Drug Law Enforcement Agencywho happened to be the pioneer Commander TRADOC, Major-General G.O Ejiga (Rtd) Principal Staff Officers from Army Headquarters and TRADOC, Corps and field Commanders among others.
