Team Force Headquarters (FHQ) of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have emerged champions of the thirteenth Biennial Police Games which ended yesterday, Wednesday, in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom state capital.

After seven days of intense rivalry, FHQ amassed 112 gold, 70 silver and 40 bronze medals to take first place on the final medals table ahead of all the other seventeen competing zones of the NPF.

A beautifully-decorated trophy for the overall winners was presented to FHQ at a colourful and eventful closing ceremony which was held inside the main bowl of Nest of Champions, Uyo, with Governor Udom Emmanuel, who was represented by his Deputy, Mr. Moses Ekpo, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Baba Alkali and the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Uko, among others in attendance.

By this feat, Team Force Headquarters have successfully defended the crown they won two years ago in Anambra but have now done so by winning 10 more gold medals than they did in 2020.

The championship which is held every two years to sharpen the mental and physical fitness of officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force as well as discover and nurture talents was staged at Ibom Hall, Ibom Icon Golf Club, Nigerian Christian Institute, Uyo township stadium, UltraFit Nigeria Limited, Uyo Club and Nest of Champions, from November 23 to 30, in Uyo.
